Fantini Sangiovese 2023
Wines taste best when shared with friends!
Italian Sangiovese but not from Tuscany, rather Abruzzo 150km east of Rome. Typically the source of the ubiquitous Montepulciano grape and high production Rose and Trebbiano (read not that good) but increasingly producers are focussed on lighting the standard.
Fantini's Sangiovese is a good example. Fresh, fruit forwarded, lifted aromatics and very easy to like. Very different to the trademark style of Chianti but important to remember that is not what this wine is trying to be.
