Want to know more about the history of Crittenden Estate? Check out this great piece on the Jancis Robinson by my good mate Paul Sellers.

The grapes for this wine were grown on diverse sites across South East Australia, including Victoria and South Australia. It is a blend of 60% Pinot Noir, 22% Chardonnay, 2% Pinot Meunier, 11% Blanc de Noir and 5% Colombard. The grapes were hand harvested and whole bunch pressed to closed fermenters where they were inoculated with “Champagne” style yeasts and cold fermented. A fresh lively nose with strawberry fruits from the Pinot Noir and zesty lemons from the Chardonnay. The palate is lively with fresh fruits, creaminess from the malolactic fermentation and finishes with crisp acidity.

Crittenden Estate has received one of the world’s most significant awards recognising outstanding sustainable growing practices and wine quality. Crittenden Estate was named as the overall “platinum” winner of the 2020 BRIT/FIVS International Sustainable Winegrowing Competition, chosen in first place amongst a high calibre field of sustainabilityminded wine producers from around the world.

The BRIT/FIVS International Sustainable Winegrowing Competition is jointly run by the Botanical Research Institute of Texas and FIVS, a Paris-based international federation of sustainability-minded wine organisations. The competition recognises wine producers taking a leading role in developing and implementing sustainable practices, while building strong connections with their communities and sharing their learnings across the wider wine sector.
