The new kid on the block is a 100% Shiraz rosé made with fruit grown on the Bannockburn winery block (planted in 1990 and expanded in 1996). The soils here are dense clay over limestone and, as is now the norm at Bannockburn, the vineyard is farmed with organic principles.

“…Bannockburn produces outstanding wines across the range, all with individuality, style, great complexity and depth of flavour. The low-yielding estate vineyards play their role. Winemaker Michael Glover is determined to enhance the reputation of Bannockburn.” James Halliday

“Floral and pretty, with aromas of dried strawberries, citrus blossoms, pastry cream and mandarin rind. The palate is mid-weighted, with good texture and a phenolic grip balanced by bright acidity. A mix of cabernet sauvignon and merlot." 92pts | Ryan Montgomery |  jamessuckling.com.

"Fascinating wine. Pours a rich dark pink hue and totally threw my senses (I assumed it would be a full bodied off dry type). Not to be. It is indeed full bodied, and might seem fruit early, but the layers of herbs, turkish delight/Campari and soft minerals build and take the focus away from the upfront fruit. Took me a little while to work it out." Stewart @ GSW

Bannockburn's viticultural principles are based on a healthy respect for the land and responsible farming, e.g. the use of organic composting and straw mulching to eliminate need for herbicide sprays and the cultivation of inter-row cover crops to add soil nutrients. Wines are made on a low-intervention basis.
