“Yarra Valley pioneers, the de Pury family are renowned for wines of finesse and elegance that epitomise the finest the region can produce. Produced from some of the oldest vines in the valley, these are long-lived wines made in tiny quantities. Yeringberg makes wines from the low-yielding vines re-established on the heart of what was one of the most famous vineyards of the nineteenth century. In the riper years, the red wines have a velvety generosity of flavour which is rarely encountered, yet never lose varietal character, while the Yeringberg White takes students of history back to Yeringberg's fame in the nineteenth century.” James Halliday
Recent efforts to future-proof the vineyard include new vine plantings (2020–2025) on phylloxera-resistant rootstock and changes to orientation and aspect to address climate change. These young vines form the basis of Babyberg, a new range of experimental wines that reflect the next generation of Yeringberg. Crafted with the same care and transparency as the flagship wines, they offer a fresh lens on one of Australia’s great estates.
"Yeringberg is one of Australia’s most venerable vineyards, established in 1863 and now run by fourth-generation vignerons. Given that tradition, it’s perhaps surprising to find a cutting-edge skinsy white emerging from the winery. And yet here it is, in all its aromatic, savoury glory: two-thirds marsanne, fermented on skins before blending with roussanne and ageing for a year in old barrels. Honeysuckle, tangy fruit, a touch of creaminess, and fine, gentle powdery grip. Cool." Max Allen’s top 20 drinks of the year, AFR Nov 2025
