"In the Macedon Ranges, on a patch of ancient, rare Cambrian soil that sits at 600m above sea level and neighbours a sacred greenstone quarry once mined by the Wurundjeri people to make stone axes, is a small, family-run vineyard by the name of Wilimee. Winemaker Ben Ranken, his wife, Sally Richardson, and their children moved to the region in ’13, purchasing the old Portree vineyard and returning it to its Indigenous name. The vineyard, established in '82, is planted solely to chardonnay and pinot noir. These 2 varieties dominate Wilimee’s small range of minimal-intervention wines." Halliday Wine Companion

Ben Ranken has extensive experience in winemaking, having worked in many regions across Australia, France and the United States. His wine has won awards such as top ten in Australia at the James Halliday Challenge and Wine of Show at the Victorian Wine Show. Ben was also a finalist in the 2018/19/20/21 Winemaker Young Gun of Wine competition, winning the inaugral 2021 Vigneron Award. Also Wilimee was finalist in the 2021 Best Vineyard Award.
