Denton View Hill, is an isolated slope in the middle of the Yarra Valley on the north side of the Yarra River. The vineyard lies over a granite ‘plug’ from the late Devonian Age (370 million years ago), sitting above the surrounding sandstones and siltstones of the Valley. The Denton wines and Shed series are made by Luke Lambert, one of the leading winemakers in Victoria.

Denton’s Cabernet vines are located on the warm, north-western slope, near the top of the Denton View Hill. This is the first Denton Cabernet to be made since 2011, so it’s a real treat. The fruit was picked at the end of March, wild fermented and pressed to three puncheons (one of which was new). It rested there until bottling (without fining or filtration) in November 2022.

"Destemmed and crushed to flowerpots, plunged by hand and then pressed and racked to 33% new French puncheons. A bright, medium ruby red. A pretty and attractive wine with scents of cherries, damson plums, flowers and a gentle waft of cedar. Lightly framed, it fills out on the palate finishing with very fine-grained tannin. It'll probably cellar well but I gotta say, it's quite delicious right now." 92pts | Phillip Rich | Halliday Wine Companion
