It may come as some surprise that the sometimes hot Heathcote region has the credentials to pump out dry and savoury Rose. Chalmers is an excellent use case, alongside the likes of Tellurian and Bindi (via the Col Mountain vineyard in Southern Heathcote).

The three vine varieties in this unique rose blend were imported into Australia by the Chalmers family in 2000 and 2001. Handpicked from the Chalmers Heathcote vineyard on soils of ironstone, colerite, green basalt and quartz, at an altitude of 210-225m. This blend is 100% Aglianico and is whole bunch-pressed and wild fermented in stainless steel. Aged in old barrique. Six months on lees.

"Rosé made with 100% Aglianico, wild fermented in old oak.  It’s a citrussy rose with stones, watermelon, citrus zest and saltbush characters driving through to a focussed, well-defined finish. This rosé is dry, gently textural, energetic and riven with citrus notes. The dining table beckons." 91pts | Campbell Mattinson | Winefront
