During his first vintage in Margaret River in 1979, Mike Peterkin introduced two wine styles which have become the mainstay of winemaking in the district: the first Australian semillon sauvignon blanc blend and the first to introduce a touch of cabernet franc and malbec to wines.
"This is lovely for its restraint and approachability, which makes it very easy to drink. Violets and spice, raspberry leaf and freshly rolled tobacco with a hint of menthol. Barely medium bodied, this is finely tuned with sweet red berries, mulberries and cassis, a smidge of cedary oak. There’s a certain elegance here, a softness to the palate, the tannins fine and feathery, acidity bright and the finish lingers. Gorgeous now and will offer more with age." 94pts | Jane Faulkner | Halliday Wine Companion
"Medium red with the faintest tinge of purple remaining: a farly light colour. There are an assortment of herbal aromas, dried underbrush, dried nori, flake tobacco and a hint of smoked charcuterie. The wine is medium-full bodied and lean of profile, the tannins quite firm and running throughout the palate, building to a clean, dry, authoritative finish. Attractive wine which appears to have good ageing potential." 91pts | Huon Hooke | The Real Review
