A latecomer to our 'Best of' list for wines lasted in 2025. Certainly the best WA Shiraz I've tried in recent times and perhaps the best Shiraz I have ever tried from the broader Great Southern region. We only managed to get hold of 12 bottles so don't delay if quality mid-weight Shiraz tickles your fancy.

"Duke’s Vineyard was established by renowned West Australian vigneron Ian (Duke) Ranson. Shiraz and cabernet sauvignon have been mainstays for the producer, but it is the rieslings from this estate that have soared over the years, with scintillating and long-lived expressions emerging. The baton was passed with Duke’s retirement, seeing winemaker Ben Cane and wife Sarah Date buy the property and brand in April ’22. Cane has been concerted in his approach to honouring Duke’s legacy, with no clear intent to change anything in the custodianship of the property and wines. Alongside the regional staples, pinot noir, chardonnay, gewürztraminer and sauvignon blanc have been planted to bring additional value to Duke’s Vineyard’s premier intent." Halliday Wine Companion
